How to Open a PPF account

• Go to nearest SBI branch.Usually any ‘large’ branch with lots of customers should be able to this! Usually newer and smaller branches may not have this clearance facility. One doesn’t need to have a Saving Bank  account in that branch. Locate your nearest SBI Branch using this

•  Procure and submit PPF account opening form and Identity/address Proofs

Choose a nominee and get a witness signature. Now you have to submit anyone of following Proofs.

• Passport
• Pan card
• Driving license
• Voter id
• Ration card
• Two Passport Size Photographs

Any government issued identity card or address proof should work. Keep originals for proof in hand to simplify the verification if needed. That’s it. The bank should now be able to open the account.

• Get PPF Passbook

A pay-in slip needs to be filled and the initial subscription needs to be credited into your account. A passbook similar to a Saving Book passbook will be issued with your photo affixed and the nominee’s name stated.  PPF rules can be found on the back. • Make an online Payment

Once you have filled up the form, and click on “Make Payment” button, you will be redirected to the payment gateway where you can make the payment of Rs 450 by credit card, NetBanking or other ways .


Don't close the page after making the payment, it will redirect you to a CIBIL page where the 3rd step will be performed. Note that before you move to 3rd step , you will get an IDENTIFICATION ID number , please note it down.

Now from security point of view, now you will have to answer 3 questions which would be related to your credit history. Once you answer these questions, your authentication will be successful and you will get your CIBIL score card in your email in next 4 days. You will get this message once authentication is successful

Govt revises consolidated guidelines for FDI

• Seeking to simplify the foreign investment regime, government on came out with the revised guidelines on FDI.

• The guidelines included policy changes in sectors like single brand retail, asset reconstruction companies (ARCs), power exchanges, civil aviation, broadcasting and non-banking financial companies (NBFCs).

• The government made these changes in the sixth edition of the Consolidated FDI Policy Circular, a ready reckoner on foreign investment-related regulations that is effective from April 5

•  The government also allowed foreign airlines to pick 49 per cent stake in the cash-strapped domestic carriers.

• Similarly, it has raised FDI cap to 74 per cent in various services of the broadcasting sector. The foreign investment ceiling in ARCs has also been increased to 74 per cent from 49 per cent, a move aimed at bringing more foreign expertise in the segment.

• It has said that the total shareholding of an individual FII in an ARC shall not exceed 10 per cent of the total paid-up capital.
